GDC '09 Liveblog: Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata gives keynote speech

Dominating today’s GDC events is Nintendo, with president Satoru Iwata already putting on his makeup to take centre stage and deliver a speech entitled “Discovering New Development Opportunities”.

Presumably this will link into the suggestion that DSiWare is to become Nintendo’s focus to bring the new platform in line with the current range of feature rich devices like the iPhone and Android.

It already seems as though the DSi has been kept under quite a tight wrap, with little in the way of hardware selling announcements. Hopefully Iwata’s speech will reveal the potential the downloadable content could bring to the DS update, along with similar announcements for further integration with the Wii.

Pocket Gamer will be liveblogging the speech - not in person, but by monitoring the output a select handful of other sites in attendance. It's due to kick off at 4PM (GMT). Don’t go far.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
