The vector drawn ninja that scooped up the indie awards after successful stints with its web-based Flash and XBLA versions is about to leap into action on the DS and PSP; thanks to a conversion by Silverbirch Studios.

We're told these latest translations will retain the classic, old-skool look and feel of the online game, and will include all the high-speed running, leaping, ninjitsu acrobatic action that made the character such a cult favourite.

Hundreds of levels will be backed up by a level editor system along with downloadable content of new level sets. There's also a brand new multiplayer feature using the two handheld system's ad-hoc wireless connectivity, which the developers promise will expand on the original gameplay.

These developers aren't the same team who put the original Flash and XBLA games together, however (Metanet). A quick glance at the interview GamersDailyNews.com recently held with the original dev team casts an ominous shadow over these latest incarnations of N+.

We'll be holding our breath to see how well the DS and PSP
versions of N+ hold up to the award winning original, and you can do the same by hitting 'Track It!' right now.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
