Never mind improving our minds by playing brain training games – they're getting enough of a workout just trying to keep up with the vast numbers of IQ-improving titles being released.

Yet another has been announced for DS. And this one's boasting three games in one.

Mega Brain Boost incorporates two previously released games, Brain Boost Gamma Wave and Brain Boost Beta Wave (released under the slightly less far-out titles The Professor's Brain Trainer: Logic and Memory – pictured – here in the UK) plus a third previously unreleased production offering additional grey matter workouts.

The professor in question in the previous (UK) games' titles is Dr Makoto Shichida, apparently the creator of the 'Right Brain Development Theory'. He believes that the right side of the brain can be developed by increasing recognition of images, shapes, spatial patterns and illustrations, done with repeated daily drills. Not by drinking lots of wine, then. Shame.

Mega Brain Boost promises to include plenty of these daily right brain workouts in the form of 15 sets of multiple choice-based training drills (which makes it sound a bit like joining some sort of boffins army) and also a multiplayer game where two individuals compete to be the cleverest.

It's currently only scheduled for a US release and is due there in January 2008, at a budget price point. 505 Games published the previous two games here but doesn't appear to be doing so with this one. We'll try to remember to bring you an update as soon as we hear anything.
