Journey to the Centre of the Earth making its way to DS

This one tried to burrow past us, but the upcoming movie reinterpretation (meaning it's probably nothing like it) of Jules Verne's classic novel, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, is to receive an accompanying DS game.

In it you take control of Trevor, Sean and Hannah as they try and find their way back to the earth's surface.

All that is known of the gameplay is that you're able to "swim, surf, fall, climb and jump". Rather more helpfully, it's also been revealed that you can use the stylus to "swing on ropes, battle creatures and to race away from danger".

It seems there are also some archaeologically themed mini-games to partake in, including digging for dinosaur bones and deciphering ancient symbols. We'd put money on those involving direct stylus control, too.

The film looks to be aimed squarely at the kiddie market, so you can bet that the game will follow suit. We hope to get to the bottom of things upon its release next week.
