Sonic the Hedgehog lead programmer and former head of Sonic Team, Yuji Naka’s latest creation Ivy the Kiwi? will be winging its way onto the Nintendo DS in North America.

Ivy the Kiwi? is a striking-looking puzzle-platformer that sees the titular baby kiwi bird negotiate spikes, platforms and environmental puzzles in an effort to find his lost mother.

So far, so New Zealand Story...

However where Ivy the Kiwi? differs from the ancient Taito arcade title is in its usage of the stylus to alter the environment and the utterly gorgeous looking art style that makes everything look like it’s been hand-drawn on a rough sheet of paper.

The title is scheduled for release via publisher XSEED in the summer in the US, with no plans as yet to release the title in either Europe or New Zealand.
