Official site launches for Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland on DS

Paunchy, red-faced fairy lover gets own game (there's hope for us all, then)

Official site launches for Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland on DS

The official website has just gone live for possibly the strangest character Nintendo has ever created. A fairy-loving, 35-year-old bachelor who dresses a bit like Zelda's Link and has an unhealthy obsession with Rupees. Just look at him – he'd be more at home sitting by a garden pond with a fishing rod than starring in his own game.

But that's just what Tingle will be doing shortly when the not-so-snappily-entitled Freshly-Picked: Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland is released on DS on the September 14th.

The game tells the tale of how a podgy middle-aged man became Tingle, and pits him on an adventure through dungeons while completing tasks to help people along the way.

Of course, with Tingle not being your average character, he doesn't do anything out of the kindness of his heart. Instead, he charges Rupees for his time and, as your character in-game, it's down to you to haggle for a decent rate. While exploring, you can even mark up points of interest on a map using the DS touchscreen and then sell the info on to other characters.

Money comes in useful as Tingle has no special skills or super-powers to utilise again enemies, so he must pay bodyguards to get him through dangerous areas.

Frankly, his obsession with money and decision to pay other people to do all the work is making us warm to him. Perhaps he's not nearly as ridiculous as his picture suggests.
