Perhaps it wasn’t a console-less Christmas after all?

As it’s not really hit our shores yet, the DSi craze isn’t easily felt in our gaming pockets, but in Japan it’s breathed new life into the handheld console’s lungs.

The initial batch sold out almost immediately, while the beginning of December marked a cool 300,000 units pushed off shelves. Now Nintendo is celebrating an early Christmas as DSi sales apparently breach the 1 million mark.

Global DS sales are approaching 25 million, so the DSi has a long way to go, but on its native shores it seems Nintendo’s hardware update gamble has paid off – making it the console for a Christmas that previously had none.

Merry Chris-DSi-mas!

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
