UK goes DS crazy

Nintendo handheld breaks UK hardware sales record (again)

UK goes DS crazy

Back at the start of November, Nintendo sold 191,000 DS consoles within a week in the UK, beating the previous hardware sales record set by Sony during the seven-day period following the PSP's 2005 launch, when the handheld managed 185,000 units.

Last week Nintendo did it again, improving its previous performance to sell over 200,000 units, according to industry news site, gamesindustry.

Is there no stopping the DS? On the downside, it means getting hold of a DS now for Christmas is going to be quite a tricky task. Amazon currently only has consoles in stock from third-party sellers (at silly prices) and forums are abuzz with people asking where they can get one after discovering their local shops are sold out.

If anyone out there is really stuck, we'd be more than happy to part with ours for, say, £500? We'll even sign it for you. (And they say capitalism is a bad thing).
