Nintendo: no DS price cut before Christmas

It's probably to be expected, but MCV has obtained straight-from-the-horse's-mouth (or at least Nintendo boss David Yarnton's) confirmation there'll be no DS price cut prior to Christmas.

Yarnton says: "In terms of Nintendo's business, we feel that Wii and Nintendo DS already represent great value for money."

"This combined with our focus on market expansion and bringing people of all ages to our products through making them smile and helping to enrich their lives means that we currently see no need to drop the price on either of our formats this year."

But think of how many more lives you'd be enriching at £69.99, eh David?

So even with the new updated DSi on the horizon, due in the early part of next year, Nintendo doesn't feel like it has to offload its current DS Lite at a cut-price too quickly.

That means if you're going to be forking out on one this Christmas, expect to be paying the normal price of £99.99.
