Nintendo releases its three new colour DS Lites across Europe this Friday, but Play.com appears to have jumped the gun and is offering the trio for sale now. Normally we wouldn't bother with it because given the retailer's standard delivery time, you probably wouldn't receive the handheld until Friday anyway. But with hardware, Play.com tends to use a next day 'recorded' type delivery.

Anyway, whether you get it from there or elsewhere, if white, black or silver simply felt too corporate to you then you'll no doubt delight in the arrival of these bright and cheerful alternatives.

The new colours red, turquoise and lime green are no more expensive than the 'standard' DS Lite and therefore retail at 99 in the UK.

You can see the new trio in all of their glory above. There's pictures of them boxed, unboxed, open, closed the mind simply boggles.

We weren't initially tempted but must admit the lime green option is beginning to make our white DS look a bit on the dated, dull side. And in an advert on TV last night, the blue sorry, turquoise option looked pretty. Damn this consumerist society we live in.
