Metallic rose DS ditches the dogs
Then brings in Carrie Underwood to promote
What were we saying only earlier today about the US and Japan getting all the fancy DS colours while we're left with dreary pink, white and black?
Well, another example of the trend has cropped up with the news that US gamers will be getting a metallic rose DS this June. It's not strictly a brand new colour - some of you might remember it was released complete with a little puppy paw print logo on the lid as part of a US Nintendogs game bundle. But now the console will be available on its own, without the mutts, at the normal DS price of $129.99.
To mark the launch, Nintendo will be bringing in a new line-up of celebrities to star in commercials. America Ferrera and Carrie Underwood will apparently be promoting the metallic rose DS, while Liv Tyler will feature in adverts for the already-available crimson black DS.
A female celebrity promoting a console that's not pink or white? Nintendo will have Victoria Beckham advertising Duke Nukem DS next.
Of course, if you like the metallic rose DS there should be plenty of import outlets flogging them to us colour-starved Europeans when the new colour launches in June.
