This particular story began last December, when we reported that Customs & Revenues had seized hundreds of fake DS units as they tried to sneak into the UK.

The central issue was safety – the £40 consoles were said to be accompanied by faulty chargers, poised to burn and mutilate.

The latest chapter in this saga comes from Bromley, Kent, where a couple has been arrested for hawking these fake DS Lites on eBay. Along with the definitely lethal chargers were discovered “copying devices” and 150 fake games for the DS and GBA.

The couple had been running the operation for more than two years, and they’re thought to have made up to £50,000 during December alone.

That’s a lot of shoddy merchandise. Did you end up with a bogus DS in your stocking this year? Tell us about it.
