Pokemon Platinum coming to DS next March

And it looks set to be a busy Spring in Nintendo Town

Joystiq (among others) has just published Nintendo’s release schedule for Spring 2009. Headlining in the first Pokemon game since 2006’s Pearl and Diamond.

The all new Pokemon Platinum is actually an enhanced remake of Pearl and Diamond that’s already been released over in Japan, and not quite the new Pocket Monster reboot we’d like. That said, it’s pushed over a million units of the shelves on its native shores in just two days, so we’re still more than a little excited about getting our hands on the localised version.

Also on Nintendo’s calendar is a January release for Personal Trainer: Math (which sounds incredibly exciting, I’m sure you’ll agree) followed in February by Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon (you can read our brand new, hot off the press, Gold Award winning review right here).

Otherwise it’s a fairly empty slate for Nintendo’s in-house publishing, though third parties apparently aren’t shying away from the DS as much as they seem to be with the PSP.

The secondary Christmas games market (which kicks in around early January, when folk who got a console for Christmas head out into the New Year to buy their own games), looks set to be a pretty busy period for the DS, with January hosting the likes of Inkheart, SimAnimals, WonderWorld Amusement Park and Retro Game Challenge among many others.

Looks like it might be a good year to ask Santa for a DS after all. Here’s the full list for you to peruse at your leisure.

Spanner Spencer
Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
