Freemium rhythm-based iPhone RPG DJ Rivals now live on the App Store
Spinning disks and taking names
Developer Booyah has released DJ Rivals, a freemium title it's touting as the iPhone's first rhythm-based role-playing game.
Playing as an up-and-coming indie DJ, you have to battle BlandCorp and Big Hit Records – a conglomerate set on taking over the city with boring music. You do this by tapping and scratching to ten hit songs.
Using GPS technology, you can battle friends in a variety of real world locations, including restaurants, bars, and theatres. Successfully beating your friends, or foes, will see you crowned 'King of the Hill'.
DJ Rivals is a spin-off from Booyah's popular Facebook game, Nightclub City. It contains four chapters, dozens of quests, nine bosses to beat, and 50 collectibles to find.
It's on the App Store now.
