You know what's wrong with Tetris? Not enough pirates in it. To this day, we're not sure how this obvious improvement to the gameplay was missed by Alexey Pajitnov when he programmed the original version. Perhaps they didn't have many pirates in Russia at the time?

Thankfully, Ojom has nobly stepped up to fill the gap in the market for a piratical-themed falling blocks game. It's called Cubes, and sees you playing a suitably salty seadog, hunting for treasure on the ocean floor by, erm, dropping 3D coloured cubes into the water.

Well, we can only guess they didn't have deep-sea diving equipment in those days.

Anyway, lining up cubes in the right sequence makes them explode, boosting your score and clearing space for more cubes. Meanwhile, there's apparently a grumpy pirate going 'arrgh' at you from the sidelines. At this stage we're not sure if any parrots are involved, but fingers crossed, eh?

Cubes is out imminently, so click 'Track It!' to get alerted to our forthcoming review.
