Square Enix deploys Final Fantasy Tactics spin-off Crystal Defenders on Android

After previous releases on both iOS and various other platforms, Square Enix's Crystal Defenders is finally available to Android owners.

A tower defence game at heart, Crystal Defenders features jobs and locations from the popular Final Fantasy Tactics series.

The game takes place in a land were peace is ensured by the benevolent power of the crystals, and tasks you with strategically deploying units and protecting said crystals from hordes of encroaching enemies.

Black Mages, Soldiers, and various other units are at your disposal, whilst factors such as map terrain must also be taken into account.

Currently, there is 240 stages of action spread over two game modes, titled W1 and W2. W1 acts as an introduction for players, with W2 allowing deep strategical play.

But don't get too excited. Crystal Defenders for iPad got a disappointing 4 from Pocket Gamer thanks to its excessive difficulty and substandard graphics. Here's hoping the Android version fares better.

Crystal Defenders is available now for £4.54 / $7.27
