The food is fighting back in Namco Bandai's colourful new tower defence title Corn Quest.

It's an age-old story: mutant insects are ravaging your cornfields, and its up to you to marshal a maize-based army and keep the invaders at bay.

You'll have five different types of unit at your disposal, including sturdy grunts, engineers, and long-range snipers.

You can earn power-ups through play or buy them via in-app purchases. These power-ups include "deceptive" scarecrows, and something called "Shuck Norris". We don't know what that is, but it sure sounds manly.

One thing we can say for certain is that Corn Quest looks bloody gorgeous. One glance at the gallery above, and you, too, will believe that corn can launch artillery.

Corn Quest is available on iPhone and iPad now for 69p / 99c.
