That’s the Genio Touch Folder to you and me

Samsung ready to unleash Corby Folder phone

Despite having the misfortune of being named after a rather inconsequential town in the English East Midlands, the Samsung Corby range of mobile phones has most definitely struck a cord with consumers the world over - predominantly those of the female persuasion.

Arguably better known as the Genio Touch in this part of the world (perhaps the Corby connection was deemed too much for English mobile users), this colourful range of phones is about to be expanded as Samsung prepares to launch a new clamshell variant of the device, ingeniously entitled the Corby Folder.

Like its predecessor it’s purely entry-level stuff, with a 2.6 inch display, 3 megapixel camera, and 3G connectivity. Still, there’s a sizable market for these fashion-conscious mobiles and it’s nice to see the classic clamshell design making a comeback after a couple of years standing in the shadow of slider-format devices.

Next up: the Samsung Milton Keynes. (Not really.)

Damien's mum hoped he would grow out of playing silly video games and gain respectable employment. Perhaps become a teacher or a scientist, that kind of thing. Needless to say she now weeps openly whenever anyone asks how her son's getting on these days.
