AVOC Software explains the problems of making an iPad launch game

AVOC Software explains the problems of making an iPad launch game

Demonstrating the issues prospective iPad developers are having to deal with, Italian developer AVOC Software has been in touch concerning the supersized version of its Colorous: A Color Odyssey puzzler.

"Colorous: A Bigger Color Odyssey will feature high resolution graphics, a partially redesigned interface and a new dynamic hint system," says Fabio Cristi.

"We're in crunch mode finishing the game, tweaking performance and finishing the hint system to get it submitted to Apple for the iPad launch."
No iPad yet, no motion gesture

However, because it doesn't yet have access to actual iPad hardware – like some other developers, AVOC is developing using the iPad emulator – some features won't be available in the launch version. "As soon as we get our hands on a real iPad, we'll add the new motion gestures supported by iPad and a couple of new other features," Cristi explains.

"We decided to postpone their addition [for launch] because they're really specific and without a real device to test them on, it would be very risky to include them."
