Colin McRae Rally and TOCA revved for PSP

Laying down the rubber

Codemasters has confirmed its first two PSP games, with key racers Colin McRae Rally 2005 Plus and TOCA Race Driver 2 primed for 1 September launch.

Expect mud, desert and icy conditions in Colin McRae Rally 2005 Plus as you battle against the clock and the weather through the rally stages of nine countries - UK, Greece, Japan, Australia, USA, Spain, Finland, Sweden and Germany. Game modes have been tweaked so you can jump in and enjoy quick three-minutes stages but there will be the option to get right stuck in and play through the whole rally championship; something which will take several hours.

Over 30 rally cars will be provided, including classics such as Audi A3 Quattro, Toyota Celica GT 4 and the Lancia Stratos. There’s plenty of wi-fi enabled play too, with the ability to share the game with up to seven of your mates, and impressively you’ll also be able to swap ghost replays of your best times.

As for track-based racing, check out TOCA Race Driver 2 , which offers a complete range of motorsport options from open wheel grand prix, to super trucks, rally driving, ice racing, formula ford as well as stockcar and street racing - a total of 30 championships for you to win. As you’d expect there’s plenty of different tracks - 52 in fact - to get your teeth into which include famous locations such as Hockenheim in Germany and Brands Hatch in the UK. And there will loads of action once you’re on the track with 21 computer-controller cars to battle it out with. You can also race with up to 11 of your mates using PSP’s wi-fi.
