Retro laserdisc hit Cobra Command out now on iPhone

We've been following Melbourne-based developer Revolutionary Concepts very closely these last couple of months, as it's been working with G-Mode of Japan on some awesome Data East classics - beginning with the laserdisc champion Cobra Command.

The game uses the popular '80s method of reading short, pre-animated video clips from a laserdisc player and coordinating them with the on-screen action.

This all-new iPhone version has remastered the video (no washed out Mega CD version for you) and revamped the controls to use the touchscreen and accelerometer to control the helicopter and its weaponry.

"Cobra Command stood out head and shoulders above anything else as something that was both a defining moment in the early days of the industry and something that would be a really different and a new kind of experience for iPhone gamers," Revolutionary Concept's Wayne Whatford told us in our exclusive two part interview.

You can also check out our preview of iPhone Cobra Command right here, and hit the App Store button below to go check it out. And stay tuned for some more very exciting retro news direct from Revolutionary Concepts.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
