It's defenceless against ground-based attacks, however, so remember to place it within range of other Defenses for symbiotic cover.

Defensive tactics
This is the most effective form of defense against air units but one that is unable to deal with ground-based attacks.
Position it to give the largest coverage over your village's key constituents (Town Hall, etc), but ensure you provide hefty cover fire from your other units in order to maintain the excellent guard against Balloons and Dragons that the Air Defense can offer.

Offensive tactics
While Archer and Wizard Towers can be dealt relatively successfully with, say, a large group of Balloons, the Air Defense unit is a far more dangerous prospect when it comes to air-based attacks – its range and power will ensure you just won't get close enough.
So if air assaults form the core of your attack strategy, focus on destroying Air Defenses with ground troops first.
