Cannon - Clash of Clans Complete Guide to Defenses
|
| Clash of Clans

Cannons are the quickest and cheapest form of initial defense. Combine those attributes with a fast attack rate and good range, and you have the foundation for a key inclusion in your village layout.

Look after them and they’ll look after you.

Range: 9 tiles
Attack Speed: 0.8s
Damage Type: Single target
Targets: Ground
Size Requirement: 3x3 tiles

Defensive tactics

Used collectively, Cannons can prove formidable at decimating the opposition and their range ensures that, if positioned appropriately, they can start firing long before your attackers reach your Wall.

They function well as support for other offensive units (such as Mortars) but note that they're vulnerable to air-based units and therefore require suitable protection themselves - place them accordingly.

Back on the ground, a group of Cannons within range of each other will further help in combating mob-style Archer and Barbarian attacks.

Offensive tactics

For all their range and speed, Cannons have the multitasking skills of your average male, meaning they can only focus on one target at a time.

As such, they are easily overrun by large groups of attackers - particularly if they are exposed (i.e. not placed behind the protection of additional Walls). And because they're singularly focused on ground-based targets, once they're no longer under the protection of an anti-air unit they are at the mercy of your Balloons and Dragons.
