Army Camp - Clash of Clans building breakdown
Troops that you have generated are housed in your Army Camps. Upgrading these regularly increases the size of your army during raids, giving you both greater numbers and flexibility with regards to strategic options available to you.
The maximum number of Army Camps allowed is 4 (unlocked at Town Hall Level 7) and when fully upgraded they're able to hold 300 troops - note that some troop units take up more than a single slot so the actual maximum number of troops is dependent on the generated troops' slot requirements. Handily, Army Camps continue to function even when being upgraded.
While initially troops housed within an Army Camp would perish if the latter was destroyed during a raid, this is no longer the case. Your troops will survive the attack and show up as soon as your Army Camp is rebuilt. So it's a good way to store some of your Elixir away from pesky raiders.
