Get set for Christmas Midnight Pool

It's that time of year where game publishers sit back, take stock of their most popular titles throughout the year, and... figure out if they can get away with re-releasing them with Santa hats on.

Thankfully, Gameloft has (so far) resisted the urge to rush out Splinter Cell: Reindeer Edition or King Kong's Christmas Cracker.

But the company has put out Christmas Midnight Pool, an updated version of its pool sim, quite literally with bells on.

There is absolutely no reason to spend another £3 on this if you already have the original game. All the characters are wearing Winter hats, there are Christmas tree logos on the table, but essentially it's the same game.

But on the other hand, if you DON'T own Midnight Pool, it's still our favourite mobile pool sim, with its pace and dynamics amply compensating for its 2D graphics. So this new version would be a great time-killer while lazing about the house on Boxing Day.

Now, if only they'd brought out Rayman Sledge Racer...
