Japan's own version of Transformers coming to 3DS

Did you know that the Japanese have their own version of Transformers? Chousoku Henkei Gyrozetter is an anime card game in which cars turn into robots and then beat the bejesus out of one another.

There's a video game based on the series coming, too, with gorgeous cel-shaded visuals. In this game, the idea is to use cards to initiate attacks against all car robots, all the while switching between your two different forms.

The 3DS version, coming to Japan next year, is a handheld version of the arcade title, and is set to feature real cars from manufacturers Mitsubishi, Nissan, and Mazda.

It's in development by Rocket Studio, the guys behind the Dragon Quest: Monsters Battle Road series, so that can only be a good thing.

Alas, the game will most likely stay firmly in its home country and not venture out to the West, so we will have to make do with staring at its screenshots (click on the screens above to see more) and perhaps learning Japanese before next year rolls around.
