Chochobos racing onto DS

Final Fantasy fans have something else to crow about (other than the recent release of FF IV on GBA and the impending FF III on DS) with news that a new title based on the game's endearing Chochobo creatures is in the works.

Named Chocobo to Mahou no Ehon, which translates as Chocobo and the Magic Picture Book, the game will focus on a farmer named Shiroma and his Chocobo, who are drawn into a fantasy world within a mysterious picture book in order to save their friends from the black sorcerer Kuroma.

Whilst further details are scarce (the only image we have is this Japanese mag cover), it appears the Square Enix title will feature 3D graphics and cameos by a number of familiar Final Fantasy characters.

A winter Japanese release suggests we're unlikely to get an anglicised version till spring 2007 at the earliest, but as soon as we hear more it'll fly your way.
