Championship Manager 2007 confirmed for PSP
Popular footie sim to step on to the pitch early next year
You may not have exhausted the depths of Championship Manager 2006 yet but, like so many of Wayne Rooney's shots, the Champ Man brand seems unstoppable.
The next iteration is due during the first few months of 2007 and as you'd expect it covers all facets of The Beautiful Game, from team tactics and training to negotiating record transfers and more.
According to its developer, it also now features 'a vibrant new look and an intuitive control system' to make it more accessible than any human mind could have previously conceived.
That's obviously a good thing (sorry, our mock sarcasm is nothing more than midfield argy-bargy), but it's not as significant as some of the other changes the game has undergone. There's a comprehensive new transfer system for intricate player negotiations, a refined AI system, and comprehensive and updated player and club data.
In addition, managers are now able to design their own set-piece drills on the tactical pitch, test them on the training ground and go on to utilise them in a match. And they can interact with their team by motivating them before and during matches by using the rousing power of words.
Elsewhere, the new, dynamic media system means that how a manager reacts towards the press, players and other managers will now have an effect on whether they become a media darling or a victim of the latest hate campaign.
Finally, this new version will also provide a variety of Challenge modes at both club and international level (two English leagues, Conference North and South, are new introductions), together with the typical 20-season play option, and on PSP there's the option to play head-to-head against others via a wireless Battle mode, too.
Expect more details between now and the game's release, which we'll endeavour to bring to your attention. Click 'Track It!' to hear our shouts from the sideline when we do.
