Caveman Rock takes DS back to the Stone Age
Rock-based puzzling for all ages
Lexicon Entertainment has announced it will be publishing Caveman Rock on DS, as well as Wii, in early 2009.
You should ditch any hopes of a game that recreates the good old days though, when a man could walk around in public in little more than an animal-print loincloth without fear of recrimination from his neighbours, because Caveman Rock is a strictly puzzle-based affair. There's no clubbing dinosaurs or slinging helpless women over your shoulder here.
Instead the game is described as a casual puzzle game. Lava rocks slowly descend onto the DS screen, and your job is to fire more coloured rocks at them and line up three like-coloured ones to make them disappear. Hmm, sounds a little familiar.
Obstacles get in your way throughout and - as incentive to get through the game's 99 levels - you can accumulate money, which can be used to buy help from a (friendly) dinosaur.
The game has four distinctively play modes - Story, Survival, Puzzle and Time Attack - and also a specific mode for multiplayer head-to-head bouts.
On top of the Story mode's 99 levels, Puzzle mode features another 50 levels. We're thinking you won't be finishing this one in too great a hurry.
