Cave's Deathsmiles shmup coming to iPhone in spring, Mushihimesama Bug Panic update coming

Japanese developer Cave has announced that its critically acclaimed arcade title Deathsmiles is coming to the App Store this spring.

A horizontal shooter with a gothic horror setting and hardcore sensibilities, Deathsmiles hit Xbox 360 earlier this year in Europe.

Given a vague spring 2011 release date, the game will only be playable on third- or fourth-generation iOS devices (and iPad users must have iOS 4.2 or up to play). A price is yet to be announced.

Cave has also announced that twin-stick action game Mushihimesama Bug Panic will get an update in March. The most interesting part of the update is that it will allow players to fight each other over Bluetooth and 3G wi-fi, with Game Center used to organise matches between gamers all over the world.
