Curses foiled, again

Castlevania II: Simon's Quest headed to Japanese eShop next week

Nintendo has confirmed that it will bring the 1987 classic Castlevania II: Simon's Quest to the Japanese eShop on March 27.

Simon's Quest picks up shortly after the events of the original Castlevania, and follows Simon Belmont as he attempts to break a curse placed upon him by the recently re-deceased Count Dracula.

Many fans remember Castlevania II fondly for its innovative day and night cycle, strong RPG elements, and famously choppy translations.

Quick as a whip

Castlevania II: Simon's Quest is also a bit of an odd duck in the early Castlevania titles as it moves away from the classic platforming of the original title to a nonlinear style of gameplay similar to Metroid.

We don't know when or if Castlevania II will make its way to western eShops, but hopefully it will find its way to Europe and North America soon.

The Japanese release is priced at 500 Yen, or roughly £3.50 / $5.25.
