It's sold over seven million units and was the second bestselling game series in 2006, so there's little surprise that THQ's taking another spin around Pixar's Cars licence.

There's no new film on which to base the game, named Cars Mater-National. So instead, like similar 'extra' releases for The Incredibles and Finding Nemo, it will bring back existing characters and locations.

You'll therefore be heading down to Radiator Springs again as you get to race young upstart Lightning McQueen in the First Annual Mater-National Race Festival.

Other than the announcement of DS and GBA versions (there's not a PSP release this time around), few specific handheld details have been revealed. But THQ says new tracks, mini-games and various multiplayer mini-games will keep us busy. Click 'Track It!' to hear some specifics when we do.

Cars Mater-National is due for release this autumn.
