Canabalt to receive massive update with local multiplayer and 8 hardcore modes
Run like there’s no tomorrow
Released back in 2009, Semi Secret Software’s Canabalt still ranks as one of the best endless running games.
Yet despite its high praise, many players feel that Canabalt is starting to gather a bit of dust around its pixels.
But rather than create a sequel, Adam Saltsman - the game's creator - is looking to shake up its design with a massive update in the coming weeks.
This will add some features which Saltsman, and many of Canabalt’s loyal players, felt were missing from the original release.
A new game in the runningDetailing the update on his development blog, Saltsman begins by advertising that he will add eight (yes, eight!) new hardcore game modes and leaderboards to the beautiful simplicity of Canabalt.

Additionally, Saltsman plans to add a local two-player simultaneous/cooperative gameplay mode and Game Center achievements.
He also indicates that more enhancements may make their way into the update before it's made available to iOS customers.
