Call of Duty 5 for DS confirmed, James Bond game still on track

Activision's latest financials reveal the publisher's 2008 plans

Call of Duty 5 for DS confirmed, James Bond game still on track

Since Activision nabbed the James Bond licence from EA back in 2007 the publisher has been pretty tight-lipped on exactly what it's doing with it.

A game was announced for 2008 but it was uncertain whether it would tie in with a film or simply take inspiration from the Martini-dependent spy man.

However, along with other plans for the publisher's fiscal year 2009 (which begins in April 2008) – delivered in a conference call with financial analysts and reported here – the company has confirmed the game will be released this autumn.

The next Bond film, Quantum of Solace, is scheduled for release on November 7th so it should mean a release at around the same time. What we don't know is which formats the Treyarch-developed game will be coming out on and if it'll be made for the handhelds.

Call of Duty 5 is coming, though. It was also mentioned during the conference call and will reportedly be appearing across several formats including DS (along with Wii, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC).

No other details were mentioned but it's likely the game will materialise sometime in autumn and, Activision will no doubt be hoping, be as successful as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (pictured), which was 2007's top-selling game worldwide (across all formats).
