It's like Diner Dash, with more of a sweet tooth

RealArcade has announced that it's making a mobile version of popular casual web game Cake Mania.

The game sees you playing Jill, a cake guru who has to open her own bakery, bring in customers, and earn enough money to upgrade and customise it.

Any resemblance to Diner Dash, where you play Flo, a waitress who has to open her own restaurant, bring in customers, and earn enough money to upgrade and customise it, is PURELY co-incidental. Surely.

Ah well, if it works... We've actually had a play with a preview version of Cake Mania, and it seems like great fun. You have to bake cakes and ice them on demand, all using simple mobile keypad controls to help you keep pace with your increasingly impatient clientele. They include Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and Count Dracula, by the way.

Cake Mania is due out in April on mobile. We'll be cooking up a review for you shortly, blending our sugary appreciation of the finer points of mobile gaming with a floury dose of cynicism. And chocolate chips, obviously. Always chocolate chips.
