Developer MunkyFun has released Bounty Bots, a free-to-play futuristic shoot-'em-up for the iPhone and iPad that sees you battle it out with up to seven other real-world players.

Each of the games firefights, which take place across dusty pioneer towns, last for three minutes.

In that time, you have to nab as many coins as you possibly can (your opponents drop them when shot) and protect your own bounty by quickly stashing it in the in-game bank for safekeeping.

The money you manage to bank can then be spent in the in-game store on special upgrades and new weapons, such as the ElectroZapper and the incredibly painful-sounding Fayzabeam.

"Bounty Bots is pure multiplayer fun, built with the solid tech and ear to community that are our hallmarks," said Nick Pavis, MunkyFun's CEO and co-founder.

The studio also developed online FPS Archetype and NaturalMotion's My Horse.

"To use an old west term, players literally have a conniption battling it out, ambushing one another, and rushing into a shooting frenzy in the easy to play, short match format of mobile gaming."

You can grab the Universal Bounty Bots from Apple's App Store for free.
