iPhone Boulder Dash retro screenshots dug up

Yesterday we heard hotshot iPhone publisher Chillingo tweeting on the morning breeze about its forthcoming adaptation of the retro classic Boulder Dash.

Apparently the nostalgic number is to be given a coat of vintage digital paint thanks to an outcry from the aging nerds who follow the retro gaming scene so closely (see you all at the club later on), and we’ve just got hold of a few screenshots of the game being played as it was meant to be.

Fact fans will be interested to know that Boulder Dash is one of the few computer games to have been converted into a coin-op (rather than the other way around) and although this writer sits firmly on the Spectrum side of the retro gaming fence, it’s pretty awesome to see how well the developer has captured that sickly-coloured, elongated pixel-style of the C64.

Check out the Boulder Dash retro screenshots, and then - just for old time’s sake - let’s debate which one was better while we’re waiting for the game to land on the App Store: C64 or ZX Spectrum. Start tearing lumps off each other.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
