We don't live in Japan, so we're blissfully unaware of Docomodake - apparently the mascot of Japan's leading mobile phone company, NTT Docomo.

We're guessing most of the western world is in the same boat, never having heard of the cute little mushroom man mascot either. However, that hasn't stopped publisher Ignition Entertainment from today announcing it will be releasing a puzzle platform game here starring the little fella called Boing! Docomodake.

The game takes place on the day of the annual festival held in the Docomodake Forest at which the Docomodake family is strangely missing. Playing as Papa Docomodake, you must guide him through various obstacles and challenges so that he can find his family and get them to the festival on time.

Papa D however is not alone. He has 'minis' that can help him when the going gets tough. Simply tapping the screen with the stylus releases these minis, who apparently have the power and the skills to "make the impossible possible".

Going by the screenshots (shown above), it looks like you move a hand about on the touchscreen to highlight and control these individual minis. It also looks like it will score around - say - 7.89/10 on the cuteness scale.

Ignition promises the game will have wide-ranging appeal too. We'll find out for ourselves when it's release this autumn. In the meantime, you can visit the game's official site here.
