Pathfinder is a hardcore tabletop RPG that plays a lot like older versions of Dungeons and Dragons. It's already on the App Store in the shape of Pathfinder Adventures. You can read our review of that right here. Now though a new, simpler card game has come out too.

It's called Pathfinder Duels, and it sees you fighting it out with another player. The first player to lose all of their hit points loses. There are definite shades of the likes of Hearthstone and Magic The Gathering here, but it's not quite so daunting a prospect.

The game feels like it's perfect for short, pocket-sized bouts. And that's exactly what you want from your mobile-focused card game.

Don't let that fool you though, there's a good deal of depth here. And as you play, you're going to learn from your mistakes. Often in the first hour or so you'll be berating yourself for missing something so simple.

While it's free to play, there's a good deal to like here if you're a fan of premium games. Everything is superbly polished, and while you can buy new cards, it's not essential to enjoying the ebb and flow of the card-based violence.

If you're looking for a game that's short and wonderfully sharp, and dripping with fantasy vibes, then Pathfinder Duels is a great place to start. Click here to grab it right this second from the App Store. Or here to grab it for Android.
