Miracle Merchant Board Game, thumbnail 1
Well, it's that time of year when everyone starts rounding up the best games that have come out over the past 12 months. So that's exactly what we're going to do here at TableTap, a big slice of content about the best mobile board games that came out in 2017.

And because we're exciting and edgy, we're going to split that content up into three parts. So make sure you come back tomorrow to check out the second part, and the day after to see the third part.

They're not in any order or anything like that, but you should definitely buy them all.

Smash Up - buy on iOS / Android

A card game about a variety of awesome monsters and characters smashing each other up, as you might be able to tell from the name. There are ninjas, there are robots, and there are all manner of other things. Like zombies.

At review we called it "a smart card game that's different enough from other games of its ilk to stand out," and gave it a Silver Award. Shiny.

Eight-Minute Empire - buy on iOS / Android

This one squishes down the empire building genre into a small experience. It's only small in terms of play-time though. There's so much strategy squished into this one that it's easy to get sucked in into its intricate depths.

At review we called it "a bright and super smart board game adaptation that won't suck hours out of your day," and gave it 8/10.

Bottom of the 9th - buy on iOS / Android

I don't really understand baseball, but this adaptation is still an awful lot of fun. It's all about rolling dice, but there's a deep RPG boiling underneath that as well. Building up your team opens up a lot more than the game shows at first.

When we reviewed this one we called it "a brilliant and entertaining board game that's going to appeal to a broad range of people."

The third card game from Tiny Touch Tales. This one sees you playing a vendor at a potion store. You need to combine together ingredients from your deck to ensure that all of your customers leave satisfied. And not dead.

We said "Miracle Merchant looks gorgeous, and it cements Tiny Touch Tales as one of the most interesting developers working in digital cards at the moment," when we reviewed it.
