The 5 best tips and tricks for Lost in the Dungeon

It's fair to say that Lost in the Dungeon is a difficult game. You're going to die when you play it, and you're going to die a lot. Honestly, just getting away from the first level can feel like a monumental task.

But that's what we're here for. We've put together a bunch of hints and tricks to ensure that you're as ready to face the terrors under the earth as you can be. You're still going to die, but you might not die as much. Maybe.

Run away

For your first few forays into the dungeons, it's best to cut your losses early. When you've bagged a couple of chests, get out of there. That won't just give you loot, it'll give you some XP that'll eventually let you change your deck of cards.

It might seem cowardly, but if you keep dying you're going to run out of gold super quick. And that means you won't be able to use potions or health kits, and quite frankly those are the most important things in the game.

Prioritise

The more you play, the more you're going to know the harm that certain creatures can do you. Each level sees you facing off against three, so figure out which one is the most dangerous to you and concentrate on taking that one out first.

Sometimes a lower level monster can surprise you if you don't get a good draw of cards, but for the most part there's not much you can do about that. Take down the biggest threats first and you're more likely to survive.

Wait a minute

If you've got a single creature left on the screen, and you've taken some damage, then if it can't do you any harm, it's worth hanging around and buffing your health and defence back up before you move on to the next room.

This also lets you game your deck a little. It's good to go into a room with at least one attack card at the ready, otherwise you're going to be at a disadvantage when the fighting starts.

What do you need?

It's important to know what your character needs to succeed, and then focus on upping those stats with the gear you collect and buy from the shop. Health and action points are always good, but magical characters need different powers to help their spells.

Usually it's best not to buy anything in the shop until you've got a decent amount of gold saved up. Rely on what you get when you survive a run, and use it to build up your character.

Don't nerf yourself

It's important to have a balanced deck. When you first unlock new cards by levelling up, the temptation is to throw a bunch of your new skills in and see what works. This is, by and large, a terrible idea.

Read what the new cards do, figure out how they fit into your arsenal, and use them accordingly. If you've got an unbalanced deck then there's a good chance you're not going to get very far. Or you're going to hit a stupid wall and stop playing the game.
