Castles of Mad King Ludwig is on sale right now on the App Store for just 99p / 99c, which is a pretty good price for a pretty good board game adaptation.
It's a game about building castles. But, as you might be able to tell, you're building castles for a mad man. Called Ludwig. And he's got some very strange ideas about what a castle should be like.
These ideas make the rules of the game, which is all about pulling tiles from a deck and using them to build a sprawling palace for the slightly bonkers ruler.
This makes no sense
Every turn you buy a room from a set of tiles. Then you need to place them in your castle. There are a huge number of possible combinations, and thanks to the king's delirium each tile is crammed with text and additional rules.
The game is mainly offline, with a campaign that sees you struggling against both an AI and Ludwig's own increasingly confusing rules. There's pass and play multiplayer too, if that's the sort of thing you're into.
