Card City Nights 2 is a fun and easy to pick up card game with a few intriguing ideas thrown into the mix. Plus it's set in space, and everyone knows that things are just much better when they're set in space.

The aim of the game remains the same as it did in the original - you need to work your way up the rankings, challenging a variety of different opponents in order to reach the top of the league.

And the truth is, despite first appearances, there's enough depth here to keep you playing for hours on end.

Grid-ually

The game takes place on a gridded board. You've got five cards in your hand at any one time, and a deck of 19 others that you're dealt at random when you lay one of your hand onto the board.

Each of your cards has a set of arrows along its edge. You need to connect these arrows up with other cards you play in order to activate them. Connect three cards and all of them will activate.

Along with the arrows, your cards have rule text on them as well. Most of them deliver damage to your enemy after they've been activated for a set number of turns, but there are others that react in different ways.

Some of them will heal you. Others, while they have plenty of arrows on them before they're activated, will lose them all once they're powered up. There are cards the can block the abilities of your opponent, and much much more.

While the core idea of the game is a simple one, it adds layers of strategy the deeper you get in. You need to be aware of what's going on around you if you want to defeat the best players.

There's an interesting story here as well, and a cast of characters that you're going to enjoy interacting with. Throw in a deck building element and some solid multiplayer and you're left with an experience that's well worth coming back to.

You card

Card City Nights 2 is a game that rewards you the deeper you dig into it. It's fun to pick up and play, but to get the most out of it you're going to have to push a bit further, and try a little harder.

And in a world where most mobile games don't really ask that much of you, that's something that really deserves to be championed.
