The studio currently working on a DS version of Blue Dragon, which was first announced towards the end of last year, has issued a press release saying the game's release in Japan will be six months later than originally planned.

Blue Dragon Plus, a handheld version of last year's ambitious Xbox 360 RPG from Mistwalker, was originally expected to be released in Japan in March 2008, but its new release date is now September 4th.

Developer AQ Interactive confirmed the delay without citing a reason for it.

On the plus side, however, there has been recent confirmation that Blue Dragon Plus will be localised for North America, which brings the title a little closer to our grasp. And screenshots (shown above) have also been released of the game in action.

It's not all bad news then, and hopefully the delay will mean Blue Dragon Plus is all the better for it when it eventually wings our way.
