Bloodstream Raiders injected directly into the iPhone's artery

Innerspace/Fantastic Voyage games are obviously the in thing at the moment.

We've just had TAG Games's GUTS (although it was obscured by its theme concerning General Schmerdiakv, the feared dictator of Slabovia. Natch).

Assyria Game Studios is being much more obvious about its new title Bloodstream Raiders, however.

What you have to do is take control of a single white blood cell and travel inside veins and arteries, through major organs, including the heart, lungs and liver, while attempting to rid the body of an influenza virus by firing antibodies at waves of deadly virus cells.

At least it's not Swine flu.

Continuing with the biological vocabulary, you also have to get to grips with cholesterol, red blood cells, bacteria, and stronger mutations of the virus.

Helping you maintain health are power-ups such as antivirals and paracetamol, used to lower body temperature and slow down movement within the bloodstream.

As well as default Campaign mode, there's also a Survival mode with casual and hardcore difficulty levels, and achievements that are unlocked using the Agon Online social networking technology. This provides global, local, and friends leaderboards.

Bloodstream Raiders is out now, priced $2.99, €2.39 or £1.79. Hit the App Store button to get injected.
