DS trailer for Bleach: The Blade of Fate kicks in
Manga scrapping has never looked so good
We first brought you news of Sega's 2D manga sword battler, Bleach: The Blade of Fate, back in July. And now – to go with the already released screenshots of the impressive looking fighter – we have a gameplay trailer detailing even more of the action.
The game is being worked on by highly regarded Japanese developer Treasure – the studio behind games such as Wario World, Gunstar Heroes, Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga, amongst others. If you've never heard of it or its games, just know that it's a master of 2D gameplay.
New info on the game reveals there are several play options, including a Story mode, Arcade mode and Challenge – which gives you a series of battles and specific criteria to fulfil in order to win. You should also expect a Versus game, where you're able to play against a friend.
Controls mostly use the DS D-pad, face and shoulder buttons, with the touchscreen reserved for activating your Spirit Cards – cards which are collected throughout the game then used to launch various special attacks and healing spells on your opponents.
The Bleach series might not be the big name here that it is in Japan, but there's no doubt this is looking like an exciting 2D fighter that shouldn't be overlooked. The visuals are crisp and colourful, environments varied and there are special effects spewing from every inch of the screen.
And it's all moving blink-and-you'll-miss-it quick, too. So prop open those eyelids with some matchsticks and check out the trailer below:
