We don't get many exciting BlackBerry game announcements, but this one should get all those older RIM stalwarts' thumbs cramping up nicely.
Developer Bplay has just launched Sega retro classic
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 onto the BlackBerry App World, which in many ways is actually a superior game (though obviously not as recognised) to the original spiky platform racer.
Sonic is accompanied by the mostly benign double-tailed fox Miles "Tails" Prowers, as the pair race to thwart Dr Robotnik's evil plans by collecting up the Chaos Emeralds. This is also the game that introduced the awesome Super Sonic mode, which really sets the game on fire (hopefully it's included here).
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is available straight away for most BlackBerry devices at $6.99 (somewhere around the four quid mark in real money).
