Game pricing mars Blackberry App World launch
They’re charging HOW much?!
Want to make British BlackBerry owners feel happy? Try charging them £7.85 for a game that costs £1.79 on the iPhone App Store.
We’ve been poking around the newly-launched BlackBerry App World this morning, and have found some huge pricing disparities.
Gameloft has opted for a £3.95 price point across its titles, yet rivals Glu Mobile, Digital Chocolate, RealArcade and Gamevil have gone for £7.85.
That’s right: £7.85. Given that Blackberry games are essentially Java titles, just under eight quid for a game is frankly pushing it.
Especially when a game like Chocolate Shop Frenzy costs that price on BlackBerry App World while iPhone owners can get it for £1.79 on the App Store.
We're wondering if something's gone wrong with the pricing conversions between the US and UK stores, with developers apparently setting their prices in dollars only.
But whoever's fault it is, UK Blackberry owners are losing out.
