You don't often hear of a horizontally-scrolling shoot-'em-up being re-engineered as a fully 3D shooter, so full marks to HeroCraft for ambition with its new game Black Shark 3D.

It's a completely revamped version of the same company's Black Shark, which came out earlier this year. You're still facing a terrorist threat, but this time you're battling it out with the marvellously-named Furious Terrorists alliance.

That's as opposed to the Mildly Peeved Terrorists grouping, presumably.

How do you battle them? By leaping into your KA-50 Black Shark helicopter and filling the bad guys full of lead (and rockets), of course. The result is a great-looking 3D shooter, which should add a new dimension (literally) to the previous title's gameplay.

Weapons, armour, boss battles… Black Shark 3D sounds like it's got all the shooter essentials, so it'll be interesting to see how the final game shapes up in its new form.
