Big Fish launches week-long App Store summer solstice sale

Time was when all the summer solstice was good for was drinking a lot of mead in an always day-light Helsinki, or watching the police beat up naked hippies as the sun rose over Stonehenge.

Happy days, it was hard to work out which event you should participate in and which one you should just watch.

However, this being the App Store Era, any available trigger point is a ripe opportunity for a sale, and so it is that casual publisher Big Fish has chosen to launch its Summer Solstice Sale.

This sees 23 of the company's games reduced to 99c for the iPhone version or $1.99 for the iPad version. The sale will run from June 24 to July 1.

Note, however, Big Fish has embraced the trial model by which it releases free versions of many of its games, requiring in-app purchases to unlock the complete experience. For what we assume are technical reasons, there's no change to the cost of these IAP unlocks.
